Valisha Graves is an Executive Director in the Institutional Securities Technology Group at Morgan Stanley. She is a Senior Technology Product Manager whose focus is financial analytic applications. Currently, she is the Product Manager for IRIS (Interactive Derivatives Investment Strategies, a Flex data visualization application that allows users to model and analyze equity derivatives strategies.

She joined the Morgan Stanley ModelWare team in 2005 with primary responsibility for the definition, development and delivery of the following Web-based ModelWare applications: Intrinsic Value (Valuation), Food Chain, Profitability Analysis, Clustering, Nearest Neighbor and Correlation. The commercial launch of these applications in October 2005 provided internal and external clients analytical tools from which they could derive insights and investment ideas using the ModelWare framework. In April 2006, she was given responsibility for improving the efficacy of Workbench, an Excel-based application that Morgan Stanley research analysts use to input their company information into ModelWare. By the the end of 2006, she was managing the Cross Asset Class (CAC)/LBO application which enabled users to identify cross asset investment ideas by analyzing mismatches between stock and bond prices and CDS levels, as well as screen and conduct scenario analysis of potential LBO candidates.

Her work on the Cross Asset Class application resulted in a new role on the Banking Strats team where from 2007-2008 she led a team of professionals responsible for screening investment ideas, valuation and due diligence of global, public and private companies on behalf of the Financial Sponsors (Private Equity) and Strategic Investment Groups. The team identified investments, performed valuation analysis using discounted cash flow (DCF), residual income, LBO and IRR sensitivity analysis. The proprietary ModelWare™ framework was used to conduct fundamental, ‘bottoms‐up’ investment and capital structure analysis and screen investment ideas across multiple asset classes.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, she was a Senior Analyst with RateFinancials, a private, independent equity research firm that ranks and rates the financial reporting, quality of earnings and corporate governance of S&P 500 companies. At RateFinancials she wrote detailed financial analyses of banks, brokers, asset managers and specialty finance companies.

She has prior business experience in Corporate Development as part of a four-person deal team at Accordia, a $100 MM early stage, quasi private equity e-commerce technology fund.

Prior to Accordia, Valisha was a Vice President in the Finance Division of Lehman Brothers. As part of the Business Planning & Analysis Group she was responsible for the financial modeling, academic research and data analysis for a global risk equity allocation project to determine the risk-adjusted returns of the Firm and its businesses.

Before joining Lehman, she was a Manager in Ernst & Young’s Financial Services Consulting practice and spent 10 years at National Westminster Bank in a variety of roles - including asset/liability management within the Treasury Group, identifying interest rate hedging strategies for the bank’s $30 billion balance sheet, recommending proprietary trading strategies using financial futures and options, marketing Fixed Income, Fixed Income Derivative and Foreign Exchange products to institutional and retail clients to drive business to Sales & Trading.
